This 30 metre railway platform extension at Ystrad Rhondda in South Wales
was installed as part of the Cardiff Valleys improvement programme. The
extension steelwork, took the form of a plate girder bridge to span the Rhondda
Fawr River, and was installed during a weekend rail possession. The project included approximately 70 metres of
galvanized handrail, plus approximately 140 metres of galvanized mesh panels to
completely enclose the platform undersides.
