The Greyfriars Bridge project consisted of the manufacture and installation of replacement crossbeams and supporting steelwork under the viaduct carrying the A49 into Hereford.
Each cross beam was 17 metres long and weighed approx 5 tonnes, and had to be manoeuvred through a small opening in the viaduct wall and then on into position before jacking into place. All staff involved with the installation on this project had to undergo confined space training before commencing work. |
